Ways to Reduce Stress During Wedding Planning

Did you know that April is National Stress Awareness Month? It’s no secret that wedding planning can lead to an intense amount of stress for the couple and even the bridal party! All of us at the Atlantis Ballroom are here to remind you to take care of yourself during this time!

Here are some of the best ways to reduce stress during wedding planning –

Stay organized!

First things first, select an organizational system such as a wedding binder, excel spreadsheet or Google drive. With piles of contracts, to-do lists and mood boards, your home could turn into a wedding mess! Having a messy home will just add more stress to your plate. Keep everything in one place to stay neat and organized. This will help ensure you don’t lose any important documents that you may need prior to the wedding or on the big day.

Put things into perspective!

When tensions are high and the stress is overwhelming, take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Take a few deep breaths, drink a glass of water, and remind yourself why you’re doing this. It’s about the love you share with your partner. It’s about the vows and the excitement of spending the rest of your lives together. Remember that no matter which centerpieces you choose or what flavor cake you decide, all that matters is you’ll be saying ‘I do.’ All your favorite people will be there with you to celebrate your love story.

Give yourself breaks.

It’s easy to get caught up in wedding planning and obsess over the small details, but don’t let it consume your life! Just like a job, try to limit planning to a specific day and time each week or limit to a certain number of hours per week. Outside of those hours, focus on other things you enjoy doing whether it’s going for a walk, spending time with friends or enjoying a date night with your fiancé!

Delegate tasks.

Don’t take on everything yourself – it’s okay to ask for help! Your family, bridal party and loved ones are probably just as excited for the big day as you are. Odds are that they would love to give a helping hand. Give them little tasks such as envelope stuffing or favor packaging. If you’re a DIY type of bride, ask some friends to help you create those centerpieces and personalized signage. This will give you more time to focus on the bigger tasks.

Find ways to relax.

One of the best ways to deal with stress is finding your coping mechanism. It’s very important to cope with stress to avoid meltdowns and getting burnt-out. This looks different for each individual, but we have some ideas. Hitting the gym might be exactly what you need. This will get your mind off wedding planning and allow you to alleviate some stress. That post-workout feeling is pure bliss! If you aren’t a fan of going to the gym, then consider a yoga or Pilates class. Indulge in self-care – sometimes all we need is a candle-lit bubble bath to make us feel like ourselves again. Treat yourself to a spa day and get a massage – you deserve it. Lastly, you could take up a new hobby such as reading or painting.
